2007 PSAC National Women's Conference:

PUBLIC SERVICES …PAVE THE WAY TO EQUALITY!

CALL FOR RESOLUTIONS

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF RESOLUTIONS IS September 28, 2007

The 2007 PSAC National Women's Conference will be held in Toronto from November 23rd to November 25th, 2007.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES:

The objectives at our 2007 PSAC National Women's Conference are to:

  • develop our analysis of the impact of federal government policies and cutbacks on women's equality and human rights
  • understand the importance of quality public services for women as workers and members of society
  • increase PSAC sisters' involvement in the campaign to Defend Quality Public Services and in coalitions working to defend and advance equality rights
  • build women's political capacity and activism in the union, the community and beyond and develop action plans which are effective and easy to implement.

The resolutions should be aimed at strengthening and improving the Union's work on women's rights and at advancing our objectives.

Resolutions will be discussed, debated and voted on at the Conference and then subsequently submitted to the appropriate bodies including the next PSAC Triennial Convention in 2009.

  • The traditional resolutions process will be utilized for the 2007 PSAC National Women's Conference (i.e. resolutions committee, debate at the Conference).
  • All PSAC constitutionally recognized bodies and union structures will be entitled to forward resolutions to the 2007 PSAC National Women's Conference.
  • Only four (4) Resolutions per body/structure will be accepted.
  • Please limit your resolution to a maximum of 150 words.
  • Resolutions adopted by Regional Women's Conferences will also be submitted to the National Women's Conference

Please note that Resolutions will be grouped into three categories:

  1. Resolutions dealing with internal PSAC structures, policies, education.
  2. Resolutions pertaining to mobilizing, political action, education, etc around the PSAC National “Defend Quality Public Services” Campaign and other national PSAC campaigns.
  3. Resolutions focused on broader equality issues and political action.

Should you have any questions regarding the resolutions process, please contact Sue Genge, the PSAC Women's and Human Rights Programs Officer, at 613-560-4328 or via email at genges@psac-afpc.com
