NFTC Union Certification Vote

Dear NFTC Employee:

It has been agreed. The NFTC Representation Vote will take place on Tuesday, March 5th, 2002.  In order to ensure that all employees affected by the vote have an opportunity to participate, the Labour Relations Board will conduct the vote, by secret ballot, on the premises at 15 Wing. Details of the time and location of the voting station will be posted in your workplace by the Labour Board in the following days.

The NFTC program is achieving great success in Moose Jaw. This is in large measure due to the contribution made by you, its employees. The planes are flying and training targets are being met because many of you are committed professionals who have made the extra effort to make the program work.

The commitment of the PSAC is to ensure all NFTC employees get respect in the workplace and full compensation for their professional contribution. This means a bargaining team representing all sections that will, with the support of union research, ensure your salary, benefits, and leave package are in line with the private and public sector and reflect the excellence of the NFTC program. Decisions on your negotiations will be made by you and your NFTC colleagues.  The first round of bargaining will start with your current compensation package as a solid basis on which to build  improvements now and in the future.

Respect and dignity in the workplace can only be a reality if you, as NFTC employees, are secure in your employment and able to plan for yourselves and your families. A collective agreement that is legal and binding contributes to this security. It establishes equity between employees and fairness in assessing the  skills and competency of candidates for promotions or staffing of positions. It can provide for job descriptions which give employees a clear understanding of what is expected of them. If problems do arise between individuals or with management decisions, there are also clear processes for resolving these on a fair, reasonable, and non-threatening basis.

Bombardier is a good employer that has built a world class reputation employing a Canadian workforce. A large part of the current Bombardier workforce enjoys union rights and good collective agreements. Bombardier employees at NFTC Moose Jaw deserve no less.

The decision is yours. In anticipation of the vote, a series of union information meetings will take place on Wednesday, February 20th, 2002, in Classroom GS 14, MPF Building at: 2:30 pm, 3:30 pm, and 4:00pm. You are invited to attend the meeting which is most convenient before or after your regular hours of work.

Information is also available on the NFTC webpage of the Public Service Alliance of Canada at: http://www.psac.com/Prairie_Region/NFTC%20Bombardier.htm.  General Information on the Alliance is available at: http://www.psac-afpc.com.

Working together we are confident we can collaboratively build a positive and productive bargaining relationship with your employer that reflects the contribution you have made to making the NFTC program the success it is today.
